Mr. Hulon I. "Chip" Jones III, age 35, of Buford passed away on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010. Chip was born Sept. 28, 1974, in Decatur. He was a 1993 graduate of North Gwinnett High School in Suwanee and attended Young Harris College on a baseball scholarship, of which he was so very proud. He was employed with the City of Doraville in the electrical maintenance department. His church was Shadowbrook Baptist Church in Suwanee, where he was also a member of the Men's I Sunday School Class. He was an avid sports fan.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hulon I. Jones Sr. and Pearl Davis Jones.
He is survived by is wife, Blair Cohen Jones of Buford; sons, Bret Jones of Buford, Jake Jones of Cleveland; daughter, Emily Jones of Cleveland; parents, Terri Burton Jones and H.I. Jones Jr. of Suwanee; sister and brother-in-law, Lindy Jones Morris and Blake Morris of Buford; brother and sister-in-law, Drew and Mandy Jones of Sugar Hill; grandparents, Ray and Ineal Burton of Cumming; stepchildren, Taylor Cohen of Dawsonville, Grayson Cohen of Dawsonville; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m. at Shadowbrook Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Linkous and the Rev. Steve Pritchett officiating. Interment will follow in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens. Honorary Escort will be the Men's I Sunday School Class at Shadowbrook Baptist Church and will assemble at the church at 1:30 p.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, Jan. 9, from 4-8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his children's educational fund, c/o H.I. Jones Jr., 4489 Suwanee Dam Road, Suwanee, GA 30024, in memory of Chip Jones.
