Joseph Allen McCane, 52, of Vanceburg, died Sunday, July 24, 2002, as a result of a fire at his home. Born December 20, 1949, in Lewis County, he was a son of Sanford and Mary Kathryn Thurman McCane of Vanceburg, and long-time companion of Jill Litteral of Vanceburg. He was owner and operator of McCane's Collectibles and Computer Repair for ten years and was retired from Westinghouse as a production clerk in Mansfield, Ohio. He was vice-president of AFL-CIO Local 711 Electrical Workers in Mansfield, was a third degree black belt martial arts instructor, co-owner of Kwon Do and Ju Jitsu of Mansfield and owner of Ontario Tae Kwon Do in Ontario, Ohio. He was a member of the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce and Church of the Nazarene, and was a 1967 graduate of Lewis County High School. Services were conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 1, at Gaydos Funeral Home in Vanceburg. Pastor Roger Seay and Barry Pettit officiated with burial in Muses Chapel Cemetery at Quicks Run.
