Oshkosh (WI) Daily Northwestern, Tues. July 13, 1954, Page 4: "Former Trainman, O. H. Kohls, Dies

"Otto H. Kohls, 76, of 424 Waugoo St., died at 5:30 a.m. today at Mercy Hospital following a six month illness.

"Mr. Kohls was born March 23, 1878 in Germany. He came directly from Germany to Oshkosh as a child, and was married in this city to Louise Volkmann on June 3, 1904. She died April 30, 1949. Mr. Ko[h]ls was a trainman for the Wisconsin Power & Light Company for many years and later was employed by Oshkosh City Lines, retiring from that in 1943. From then until June 1 of this year he was custodian of Trinity Lutheran Church. A member of that church, he was also a member of its Men's Club.

"Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ernst Otto and Mrs. Milton Rutz, Oshkosh; a sister, Mrs. Emilie Volkmann, Oshkosh; five brothers, Charles and August, Arpin, Wis., Albert, Clinton, Wis., and Julius and Paul Oshkosh; three grandsons and several nieces and nephews.

"Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Trinity Lutheran Church, The Rev. K. R. Going officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park. Friends may call from Thursday afternoon until 11 a.m. Friday at the Konrad Funeral Home and at the church from noon until the time of services."
