Reba A. Jones, 91, of Jefferson City, MO, formerly of Downing, MO, died January 27, 2005, at the Heisinger Bluffs Retirement Center.

Reba was born February 5, 1913, at Scotland County, MO, the daughter of Grover and Neva Barker Woods, both deceased.

She was married on September 7, 1936 at Memphis, MO to Ross W. Jones who preceded her in death on May 22, 1989.

She was once an active member of the Baptist Church in Downing, MO. She was also a member of the Gideons International. Being civic minded, she had served on numerous committees in the community throughout her lifetime. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked.

Reba attended school in Scotland County and lived most of her life in Scotland and Schuyler County, except for a year when she and Ross lived in Fruitland, ID.

Reba was a dairy farmer and worked side by side with Ross. She loved being outside and was an avid gardener and also took great pride in her yard and flowers. In addition, she was a wonderful cook and the happiest when surrounded by family.

Survivors include three daughters, Lois Ruth and her husband, John of Jefferson City, MO, Karen Phelan and her husband, Barney of Jefferson City, MO, and Joyce Rice and her husband, Dale of Columbia, MO; four grandchildren, Rita Starnes and her husband, Craig of Jefferson City, MO, John A. Ruth and wife, Michelle of Jefferson City, MO, Mitchell Ruth and his wife, Vicky of Jefferson City, MO, and Olivia J. Rice of Osage Beach, MO; six great-grandchildren, Ryan Starnes, Brent Starnes, John L. Ruth, Travis Ruth, Caleb Ruth and Katie Ruth.

Reba was preceded in death by three sisters, Alverta Woods, Vada Dodge, and Martha Robinson; and three brothers, Robert Woods, Forest Woods, and Junior Woods.

A funeral service was conducted January 30, 2005 at the Downing Baptist Church, Downing, MO, with the Reverend David Barton officiating. Interment was in the Campground Cemetery, southeast of Downing, MO. Memorial contributions may be made to the Downing Baptist Church, Downing, MO. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Freeman Mortuary of Jefferson City, MO and Norman Funeral Home of Downing, MO.
