Martin E. "Sonny" Brandt, 83, of Warrensburg, passed away Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
Martin Elmer Brandt was born March 7, 1926, in Knob Noster, the son of Claude A. and Katie L. Sproat Brandt.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was united in marriage to Jean F. Jones on Nov. 30, 1951, in Lexington. "Sonny" was employed with Euell Beard Construction for many years and he also farmed. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Carpenters Union - Local 1953. He also enjoyed woodworking, dancing and fishing.
Survivors include four children: Delores Lankford and husband, Randy; Larry Brandt and wife, Danna, and Denise West, all of Warrensburg, and Darlene Perry and husband, Michael, of Salem, Wis.; a sister, Claudine Grier, and a brother, Avery Brandt, both of Warrensburg; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
Sonny was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, on June 1, 2007; and a sister, Tillie Rehkop.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Warrensburg, with the Rev. Pete Beard officiating.
Interment will follow in Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan Hall, Steven Perry, Kent Page, Dustin McKinley, Zach Yancey and Chad Harrison.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Crossroads Hospice in care of the funeral home.
