Vance Davis Davenport, 81, of Reliance, TN, died Friday, February 12, 2010, in Polk County.

A native and lifelong resident of Polk County, he was a son of the late Bass and Ida Jane Hall Davenport.

He was retired from the State of Tennessee Highway Department, and was a member of Greasy Creek Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Davenport; a son, Donald Davenport; a grandson, Gary Dalton; four brothers, Marvin, Jack, Warren and Sammy Davenport; and four sisters, Nancy Johnson, Sybil Davenport, Ollie Murray and Easter Ruth D. Goforth.

Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Lorene and Leonard Havner of South Pittsburg, TN, Cheryl and Ken Farmer of Reliance, TN, and Keri and Mike Hill of Cleveland, TN; two sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Liz Coblentz, and Jim and Terry Coblentz, all of Reliance, TN; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one sister, Annamae D. Wiseman of Cleveland, TN; and one brother, Ed Davenport of Reliance, TN.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 14th at Archville Baptist Church in Reliance with the Rev. Wilfred Wright, the Rev. Bobby Rymer and the Rev. Danny Arp officiating.

Burial will follow the service at Archville Cemetery. Josh Franks, Robert Franks, Eric Franks, Joe Coblentz, Jim Coblentz, James Edward and Victor Emmons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, February 13th at the funeral home.
