Ira "Hank" Armstrong, of Angleton passed away in Sweeny.

He was born December 22, 1909, in Weatherford, Oklahoma to Silas Samuel and Sarah Janette Horrell Armstrong.

Hank was a former resident of La Marque and retired independent owner of Armstrong's Automotive Garage.

A great storyteller and avid outdoorsman, he loved to fish and garden year-round.

He loved square dancing and even called for the dances.

He was forever young and built his house at age 83.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hattie Neugebauer Armstrong, and daughter, Janette Devasier.

He is survived by wife Georgia Armstrong of Angleton; sons O. L. Armstrong and wife, Inga of Santa Fe, Bobby Armstrong and wife, Linda of La Marque and Ray Peavy and wife, Linda of Brazoria; daughters Clara Lee Newton and husband, Jesse of Angleton, Joyce Wilkenson of Lewisville, Barbara Feiner and husband, Bucky of Richwood, Cindy Grant of Angleton, Linda McAda of Angleton, Linda Darnell Ince and husband, Donald, of Freeport and Dixie Strother of Sweeny; 32 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services were held December 11, 2009, at the Palms Funeral Home Chapel, Angelton, TX with Brother Chad Hawkins officiating.
