Maggie Hunter

Mrs. Maggie Christner Hunter, 83, Rome, died Sunday, March 13, 1983, at 2 a.m. at the Morning Sun Manor.

She was born Aug. 31, 1899, at Rome, the daughter of Richard and Adella Whipple Sammons. On June 22, 1921, she married Luther Christner at Rome. He died June 13, 1975. She married Frank H. Hunter at Canton, Mo., on Sept. 15, 1978. He died March 19, 1980.

Mrs. Hunter was a lifetime resident of Rome.

Surviving are eight children, Mrs. Howard (Evelyn) Talbot, Burlington, Mrs. Marie Delzell, Morning Sun, Ben Christner, Mt. Pleasant, Harold Christner, Burlington, Mrs. Mel (LuDica) Cox, Hayes, Kan., Mrs. Joan Newman, Lockridge, Edward Christner, Wayland, and Mrs. Robert (Mae) Meth, Mt. Pleasant; two stepchildren, Betty Starr, Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Wilma Van Osdol, Burlington; 34 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Her parents, three brothers, Edward, Alva and Clem, a sister, Eva White and four grandchildren preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Marc 16, at 2 p.m. at the Rome Baptist Church. The Rev. Harold Schlink and Loy Lollar will officiate with burial in Green Mound Cemetery west of Trenton.

Friends may call as they desire Monday at Beatty Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, the body will lie in state at her home in Rome from noon Tuesday to noon Wednesday.

A memorial has been established.
