Mrs. Pearl Aaron, 81, a county resident for more than 70 years, died in Collingsworth General Hospital Tuesday, Feb. 1, at 6:15 p.m., after being in failing health several months. Several years ago, of her own initiative, Mrs. Aaron developed a food service, providing meals for all the town's civic clubs, Farm Bureau, many school and chamber of commerce banquets. With this, she established for herself a unique and respected place in the community. For her, this was a work of love, those with whom she worked responded with their own special regard for her. She retired several years ago. Mrs. Aaron, the former Pearl Williams, was born July 13, 1895, in Wise County, the daughter of the late David and Ida Sheppard Williams.
The family came to Collingsworth County in 1906. She had been a Methodist since early in life and was active in the Salt Fork Methodist Church and later First United Methodist Church. She worked with Home Demonstration Clubs and 4-H clubs, and for a number of years was active in B&PW Club. Mrs. Aaron was runner up for the Citizen of the Year award several years ago. She was married to Calvin Aaron in 1914 at Wellington and they farmed many years in the Salt Fork-Utlie area and at Cross Roads. He died July 8, 1953. Her two sons and daughter also preceded her in death, Doyle, J.D. and Miss Juanita.
Surviving are six grandchildren: Mrs. Joy Emmert of Derby, Kansas, Jack Aaron of Burkburnett and Mrs. Patsy Ratliff of Clayton, N.M., children of Mrs. Velma Aaron Emmert and the late Doyle Aaron; Cal Aaron of Wichita Falls, Mrs. Jo Ann Scarbrough of Denver City, and Mrs. Mary Beth White of Hereford, children of Mrs. J.D. Aaron of Wichita Falls and the late Mr. Aaron; Also surviving are two brothers. E.F. Bartlett and Ozro Bartlett of Wellington; 19
great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
