In 1900, at the age of 22, he married 18 year old Lottie Griffin in McBain, Missaukee, Michigan.
Sometime between 1902 & 1905, he married Carrie Mae Womer Smith, a young widow with 3 young boys.
By 1910 the family had settled in Washington State where Bert followed the sawmill jobs.
He & Carrie had 3 children, 2 of whom preceded him.
In 1926 Bert contracted smallpox and, along with stepson, Kenneth & Kenneth's wife, passed away. He was 47 years old.
