John P. Manhart, 87, Washington, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004, in Washington.
Mr. Manhart was born Feb. 16, 1917, in Washington, the son of Cornelius Manhart and wife Ida, nee Rott.
He was united in marriage to Bertha Heimann Oct. 12, 1946, at St. Francis Borgia Church.
Mr. Manhart was a member of the American Legion Post 218 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2661.
He also was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Washington.
Mr. Manhart served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a staff sergeant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Anthony, Cornelius, Paul, Joe and Ludwig Manhart; five sisters, Rosemary Manhart, Helen Huxel, Anna Kluba, Cornelia Emann and Gertrude Dowil.
Mr. Manhart is survived by his wife, Bertha Manhart; two sons, John Manhart Jr. and wife Suzetta, Labadie, and Garry Manhart and wife Betty, Washington; one daughter, Vicki Terschluse and husband Steve, Washington; one sister, Mary Gates and husband Frank, Springfield, Ill.; five grandchildren, Aimee Maune and husband Adam, Christopher and Jason Manhart, and Stephanie and Shana Terschluse; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, Dec. 17, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Washington, with the Rev. Robert Heimos officiating.
Burial will be in St. Francis Borgia Cemetery, Washington.
Memoria ls to the Our Lady of Lourdes Building Fund are preferred.
