George was the son of Henry Dionysius and Helena Cissell. George Pius married Cecelia Regina Lonergan, the daughter of Patrick F. Lonergan and Helena Driscoll, in Louisiana, Missouri, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on August 15, 1878. George and "Grandma Cele", as she was known to her relatives, lived in Modoc and Ruma for most of their married years. They had six children: Patrick Henry (b. 1884), James Francis (b. 1889), Amos George (b. 1894), Edmond Perry (b. 1895), and Ella (b. 1891).
George was the teacher at the Marigold (Dogtown) School from 1890 to 1903. According to some family records, there was a baby Mary born as a twin of Patrick Henry, but died at birth.
George Pius spent the last few years of his life as a contract laborer in the Ruma area. In 1911, George died from pneumonia at the young age of 54. He was one of the first buried in St. Leo's Catholic cemetery. Grandma Cele moved in with her nephew, Harry Edwin, and helped raise his children following the death of their mother. Later in life, Cele moved in with cousins Clarence and Catherine where she lived until her death in 1946. She was buried next to George at St. Leo's cemetery.
