Daniel was a Confederate soldier in the 18th Alabama Infantry Regiment, Company G. In December 1864, he and his brother Thomas William Huffman were captured at the Battle of Franklin, Tennessee, and were incarcerated in the Union Military Prison at Camp Chase, Columbus, Ohio. Danile died of Diarrhea at age 18.
