Mrs. Charles Jett Dies At St. Francis Hospital
Mrs. Charles Jett, former resident of the Canaan community, passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Washington last Friday, July 13, 1956, at the age of 69 years. Annie R. Jett was born at Wool-lam on April 21, 1887, a daughter of the late William and Sarah Rattles. She received her education at the Barbarick School near Woollam, where she grew to young womanhood. In April 1905, she was united in marriage to Charles Jett and they settled on a farm near Canaan where they lived until 1924, when they moved to Union to make their home. She is survived by two daughters and three sons: Mrs. Nola Downing of Arnold; Mrs. Vivian Sanders of DeSoto; Olan Jett of Union; Troy Jett of St Louis, and Woodrow Jett of Overland; three step-daughters Mrs. Addie Lacy of Rosebud; Mrs. Flora Watson of Michigan City, Iowa, and Mrs. Oma Jones of Hoxie, Arkansas. Also surviving are 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers Blane and Wesley Rattles of Linwood, Kansas, and Jesse Rattles of Rantoul, Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. Jett observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary on April 27, 1955. Her husband preceded her in death on September 7, 1955. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Union. Funeral services were held from the First Baptist Church in Union on Sunday, July 14, at 2:00 p. m. by the Rev. Ralph Powell and then to New Bethel Church near Bland, where interment followed in the New Bethel Church Cemetery.
