John Johnson, pioneer resident of Roseau County, died on Friday, May 2, 1946 at the advanced age of 97.
Born in Sweden on December 1, 1848, he came to the United States at the age of 22, living first in Wisconsin, and later in Litchfield, Minnesota, until 1902 when he moved to Roseau County. The last three years of his life he lived with his grandaughter, Florence Mabel Ranum Ueland and her family.
He was married to Ella (Ellen) Peterson of Grove City in 1888. Three children were born to the union, Hulda, Ernest, and Freda. He was survived by Ernest (#74696404) and Freda, 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. His wife and a daughter (Hulda) preceded him in death.
Funeral rites were conducted in the Rindahl Lutheran Church at Rosewood with the Rev. Silas Erickson officiating.
