He never knew when Melanie was born or whether a boy or a girl, because he was listed as Missing in Action in Dec 1944 and Killed in the Battle of the Bulge on 10 Jan 1945. He was first buried in Foy Cemetery in Belgium in 1945 then he was returned to Monett, MO where he is now buried in the Monett IOOF Cemetery.
