Obituary - Conkle.
Miss Margaret Oliver was born at Brownsville, Ohio, on Sept. 1st 1844 where she made her home until at the age of 22 years so was married to William Conkle on Christmas day of 1866. They resided in Marietta, Ohio until 1879 when they came to a farm a few miles northeast of Great Bend, Later they moved into Great Bend.

Mr. Conkle died on August 31, 1899 at the age of 57 years, 7 months, 16 days. No children were born to this union, but realizing that to have a happy home children were needed and they took Nellie Mitchell, four years old and in need of mother love, and reared her to womanhood, then when Miss Mitchell was married to Mr. Will Hammond, Mrs. Conkle continued to live with her daughter, and for eighteen years has known no other home.

Mrs. Conkle was one of nine children and only one brother survives her. He lives in Ohio. A sister-in-law, Mrs. Sarah Oliver, from Emporia, with her son and daughter are here for the funeral services: also a cousin, Mrs. Margaret Posey from Larned.

Early in life Sister Conkle publicly accepted Christ as her personal Savior, and in loving obedience, was immersed in the Ohio river near her home in Marietta, Ohio. Her Christian life has always been consistant with her profession, and she has always been faithful to her Lord and His church. She was always going in her active years to assist in homes of sickness and her daily ministrations in those days are still a loving memory yet in the minds of many whom she served.

She loved this church, and gave according to her ability to support the work of the church, and even the day she died she had hoped to be in her accustomed place. She concluded her earthly life Lord's Day afternoon at the age of 72 years, 1 month and 28 days.
