Daphnea Jean McClure, age 69 of Joplin, passed away at 5:05 a.m. on Friday, June 11, 2010 at Carthage Health and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.

Born June 26, 1940 in the Belle Center community northwest of Joplin, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Doler L. Allen and Dalpha L. Kaiser Allen and lived in the Joplin area her lifetime. She grew up in Joplin, attending Jefferson Elementary, North Junior High and Joplin High School. Daphnea worked for Fred & Red's Restaurant as a waitress, Fairchild Mfg., and retired from Consumer's Grocery as Bakery Manager. She loved to travel, play cards and be with her family. She enjoyed playing bingo, taking care of her pets and tending to her flowers.

On February 29, 1968, she married Mike G. McClure at Miami, Okla. He survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Cynthia Wooden and husband Larry of Webb City; two sons, David Sowersby and wife Tracy of Greenwood, Ark., Mike Shane McClure of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Opel Richardson of Wyandotte, Okla., Nancy Stewart and husband Don of Webb City; three granddaughters, Kerstand Tatum, Jessica Nielson, and Raelynn Sowersby; four grandsons, Josey Rogers, Nathan Sowersby, Ethan Sowersby and Hayden McClure; three great-grandchildren.

She was pre-deceased by a wonderful sister;

and a brother;
Doler 'Gene' Allen


Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 14th at Parker Chapel with Rev. Bob Simon officiating. Interment will follow at Ozark Memorial Park with Josey Rogers, Jeffery Thompson, Jason Tatum, Travis Nielson, Nathan Sowersby and Kevin Wallace serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
