William Burrel "Papa" Cochran was born in Dec 1930 near Kyle, Texas in the little community of Goforth. He spent a good amount of his free time fishing on his parents river property in Martindale, Texas.

The youngest child in the family, Burrel Cochran was a Korean War veteran who served in the US Army during the Korean War. Serving in the 4th Army, 545th Military Police Company with duties in graves registration.

He has lived in Dripping Springs, Texas for the past 20 years. His life interests were in arrowhead collecting, country music, genealogy, and his family.

William Burrel Cochran passed away on 11 June, 2010. He was the last surviving child of James Hezekiah "Hez" Cochran & Amanda Letress "Wimberley" Cochran.

He was also a surviving grandson of Levi Newton Cochran, Sr. and Maggie "Brown" Cochran who are buried in the Wimberley Cemetery in graves near Clarence & Ethyl "Cochran" Henderson.

Burrel was the great grandson of Pleasant Wimberley, founder of Wimberley, Texas and his great grandmother, Amanda Jackson Wimberley, and grandson to Andrew Jackson Wimberley and Fanny B. "Tanner" Wimberley.

His great-grandfather, Pleasant Wimberley, purchased several mills in 1874 and settled in the town that would later bear his name.

Burrel is survived by his son Darrel Lee Cochran and his wife Tracy Anna Cochran. Also he is survived by his granddaughter, Amber Elizabeth "Cochran" Sherill and her husband, John Thomas Sherill.

Burrel wrote and recorded several songs during his career, as a Country Western singer and played with many central Texas C&W bands. He was a personal family friend of Pop Nelson, father of Willie Nelson.

He had a good sense of humor and always looked on the bright side of all things. Burrel was a loving son, brother, uncle, husband, father, and grandfather.

Burrel had many friends and a large extended family that all loved him dearly. Heaven is a little brighter now that Burrel has been reunited with all his departed family and friends.

William Burrel Cochran, 79, of Dripping Springs went to Heaven on June 11, 2010. He was a lifelong resident of central Texas. Born in Goforth, Texas on December 18, 1930, Burrel was one for the outdoors!

Whether it was fishing, canoeing, hunting, or just sitting outside, Burrel loved nature. He also loved searching for arrowheads. He was a Korean War veteran.

After returning from the war, he was a painter by trade. He had been a resident of Dripping Springs for over twenty-five years. He was in a band for over twenty years, playing at local country music venues and dance halls.

He loved and adored his family. He was always there for anyone that needed him. He taught us life's lessons through his excellent storytelling. The values he held highest were life, love, and laughter.

He had many friends that would visit, but he always made new friends everywhere he went. As the youngest, he was preceded in death by all eight of his brothers and sisters.

He was a loving papa who is survived by his son, Darrel Cochran and wife Tracy of Lindale, Texas and granddaughter, Amber Cochran- Sherrill, and husband John Sherrill of Dripping Springs.

He is survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. The memories we have of Burrel will last a lifetime. We love you and we'll see you again!

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 19th at 10:00 a.m. at his home on 204 Kothmann Rd, Dripping Springs TX. Arrangements under the direction of Beck Funeral Home, 15709 Ranch Rd. 620, Austin, TX 78717 512-244-3772.
