George was was predeceased by his father George Lytle Potts. Surviving family members are his widow, Dreama Gibson Potts, his daughter Evelyn Kimberly Potts of Fairfax, VA, his Mother, Evelyn A. Potts of Shipman, VA and three sisters, Joyce Hoffmann of Amherst, VA, Shelia Hutchins of Ruckersville, VA and Vanessa Spiller of Centreville, VA.

He is buried with his parents in Hillsboro cemetery.
