Paul served in the US Navy during WW II and was stationed in Manila, Philippines where he met and married Florence Kellogg, daughter of Almer X Kellogg, Sr. and Margarita Capis. Their first son, Paul "Sonny" Mett, was born there.
They were in China when it was attacked by the Japanese in WW II. Paul was stationed in Hawaii while his wife and son were sent to California.
He was injured in the very early days of the war and went to the Naval Hospital in Brooklyn, NY. His wife went to be with his family and was reunited with him at the hospital. Paul was dismissed from the Army on disability, and they moved to New Jersey.
Soon afterwards, they bought a ranch with a citrus grove in Fellsmere, FL. Their second son Peter was born there on Feb. 16, 1949. They were hit by a devastating hurricane in 1951. Although their home was left standing, their citrus crop was completely ruined. Paul died a few months later on July 15, 1951.
Paul is buried with his wife and two sons in Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach, FL.
