BARBARA BABRIDGE OBITUARY
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Barbara Jane Babridge (nee' Morgan/Cason) of Greenville, South Carolina, who passed away on May 8, 2022 at the age of 81.

Barbara Jane was born on March 11, 1941, in Greenville, South Carolina. She was loved by two sets of parents. Barbara was born to Johnny and Jane Morgan and later adopted by her paternal aunt and uncle, Clifton and Louise (Morgan) Cason.

Barbara was an alumna of North Greenville University in Tigerville, South Carolina where she excelled in Home Economics. She served as a Detention Officer in the Greenville Department of Public Safety. Corporal Scott proudly served 26 years with Greenville County until her retirement (74 years old). She so enjoyed the camaraderie of serving the community with her fellow law enforcement professionals. She selflessly enjoyed preparing foods and desserts for fundraisers to support law enforcement officers. In 2015, Barbara was recognized as one of "Greenville's Most Beautiful Women" in Greenville, South Carolina. Barbara also enjoyed her service as a Sunday School teacher, Young Women's Leader and Young Women's Camp Counselor for many years.

Barbara was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, niece, cousin, aunt, and friend with a kind soul. She filled a lifetime of service to the community and those she dearly loved. She lived her life to the fullest, her sense of humor, commitment to family, beautiful smile, and Thanksgiving dressing and green beans will be missed beyond words.

Family and friends will tell you that Barbara was an intelligent, talented, caring and loving person who enjoyed raising her children, being visited by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and working in her vegetable garden. Barbara loved adventuring with her husband Tony, around Greenville or on one of their weekend trips.

Barbara loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in school or athletic events and just playing in the yard. She most enjoyed bringing her family together, especially during Thanksgiving, Christmas, Sunday afternoons - or on any given day the door was always open for family, friends or someone in need. She was passionate about cooking, understanding cultural cuisine and enjoying good food. In her last years she fell in love with cooking shows, and the fascinatingly rich history of Southern and Low Country cuisine.

Left to cherish Barbara's memory are her family: husband: Earl T. Babridge III; son: Clifton T. Scott (Betty); son: Sean M. Scott (Rhea); daughter: Robin Scott; Barbara's wonderful grandchildren: Cody Woolery (Chantel), Audriana Scott (Brant), Devin Scott (Laura), Zachery Scott (Mary), Nicole Scott, Sydnee Scott, Kacey Scott, Sawyer Scott, and Bennett Scott; and Barbara's amazing great-grandchildren: Payton, Paxton, Geraldo, Lexi, Gracie, Ivey Lou and Parker. Although there was distance, Barbara dearly and fondly loved her surviving sisters, Lynn Tankersley Bridwell and Tracy Tankersley Hamby. She also leaves behind cousins Alfred W. Thomas, III; Don Morgan, Terry Morgan, and other family and friends that adored her. Barbara was predeceased by her parents; her first husband, Paul Maxwell Scott; and her youngest son, James Paul Scott.

A graveside service will be held at Graceland Cemetery West in Greenville, South Carolina on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, Barbara has requested that donations be made to your organization of choice or a family in need.
