Howard C. "Hoover" Stills, 72, of Plaza Towers, died Friday at Takoma Adventist Hospital.
Mr. Stills retired from the Tennessee State Highway Department.
He was a member of Tennessee State Employees Association (TSEA).
Mr. Stills was a member of Community Fellowship Church.
He was a son of Carl Stills of Greeneville and the late Dora Shipley Stills.
Survivors, in addition to his father, include his wife of 55 years: Mary L. Ricker Stills; a daughter: Fayetta Willett of Greeneville; two sons and daughters-in-law: Howard A. and Diane Stills and Eddie and Imogene Stills, all of Greeneville; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Wanda and Mayford Rader, Gaye and Buster Shelton, and Irene Stills; two brothers and three sisters-in-law: Gene and Alyne Stills, Linton and Barbara Stills, and Ethel Stills, all of Greeneville; other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Vonalee Stewart of Meadow View, Va., and Bessie Ricker, Pete and Norma Jean Ricker, all of Greeneville; several nieces and nephews; and special friends: Bill and Dorothy Nease.
He was preceded in death by a son: Robert Lynn Stills; and three brothers: Clarence Stills, Raymond Stills, and Mack Stills.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 this evening and Saturday evening at Kiser Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Kiser Funeral Chapel with interment in River Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Hubert Metcalf and the Rev. Buster Shelton will officiate.
Grandsons and friends will be pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. William Hamilton, Dr. A.K. Sen, Dr. John C. Boys, Dr. Robert Bridges, the third floor nursing staff at Takoma Hospital, the staff of Smokey Mountain Hospice, the members of Community Fellowship Church, his friends at Plaza Towers, and the employees of the State Highway Department.
