The Proctor House, on the corner of Main and Van Buren streets, now conducted by H. W. and E. E. Proctor, was opened by Smith Copeland. He was succeeded by his son Clewley, and he by a line of proprietors, including such well-known names as Africa Gates, Martin Hamlin, Parwin Bates, John N. Green, E. L. Proctor, and Capt. J. B. Proctor.

Henry W. Proctor, one of Antwerp's well-known and. highly respected citizens, died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Anna E. Goodwin, in that place last Thursday, aged 61 years. Mr. Proctor for a number of years was proprietor of the Proctor house in Antwerp, and during the past few years has been correspondent for Syracuse and Watertown newspapers. He was a well-known band man and until a short time ago was the leader and director of the Antwerp fire department band, which position he was forced to relinquish
owing to failing health.
