Funeral services for Mrs. Amanda Carroll, 80 years old, who died yesterday morning at the home of a daughter,
Mrs. Robert Fugett, 1319 Twenty-fifth steet, will be held this morning at 10 o'clock at the daughter's residence.
Burial will be at Grayson, Ky., Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock.

Amanda Simmons was born on April 30, 1856 in Carter County, Kentucky to Christopher Columbus Simmons and Jane Gray. She was one of 11 children. On July 20, 1874, at the age of 18, she married Daniel Boone Carroll in Elliott County, Kentucky. They settled on a large piece of land on Everman Creek in Grayson, Carter County, Kentucky. There they were blessed with fifteen children: Margaret, William Hardy, Jacob, Robert Galbreth, John Elmer, Jennie Lynn, Daniel Boone Jr., Pink, Bessie, Milton Green, Thomas Nolan, Willard James, Walter D., Herbert, and Inez. When Daniel Boone died in 1927, Amanda went to live with her daughter Bessie and her family in Huntington, West Virginia. Bessie's son, Truman, told about how Amanda was a character and used to smoke a pipe. He also talked about how she was always wearing an apron and would keep the pipe in the pocket of her apron. On December 21, 1935, at the age of 79, she died at Bessie's home. She was buried in Carroll Cemetery by her husband.
