The Battle of the Bulge, also known as the Ardennes Counteroffensive, was a major German offensive campaign on the Western Front during World War II which took place from December 16, 1944 to January 25, 1945. It was launched through the densely forested Ardennes region between Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg towards the end of the war in Europe. The Germans picked the time for the attack when the weather would be too bad for Allied aircraft to scout them, machine gun and bomb them. The Germans thought that this attack would win the war for them, but they were wrong. They lost this Ardennes Battle and the war. So, Nazi Germany surrendered unconditionally on May 7, 1945.
