Funeral services for Miss Edna H. Donaldson, 53, of Bombay who died Friday night about seven o'clock in Massena Memorial Hospital were conducted Monday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Bombay Methodist church.
The Rev. Kenneth D. Jones, pastor, officiated, and committal was in vault in Hillside Rest cemetery there. The pall bearers were Messrs. Clifford Miller, Fred Charette, Ernest Foy, Lyle Shoen, Emery Winters and Lloyd McGibbon.
Prior to the services her body had been in repose at her late home. Miss Donaldson had been in failing health in the past few years due to a heart ailment and had been seriously ill since December 3rd when she the Massena hospital. After two weeks she was able to go to the home of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. And Mrs. Vernon J. Donaldson of Massena, and she remained there until January 20th when she returned to the hospital.
Miss Donaldson was born at Bombay Augusr 14, 1904, a daughter of Merton and Ada McElwain Donaldson. She graduated from Bombay High school, Potsdam Normal school and Buffalo university. Following her graduation she taught one year at Point Pleasant and one year in Geneva. In 1930 she joined the facility of Brighton school No. 1 in Rochester and taught there until her retirement in 1955 due to ill health.
She was a member of Bombay Methodist church until transferring to the church at Brighton while teaching there. Among Miss Donaldson's quality charactteristics were her refinement and culture which over the years she brought into the classrooms where she taught and succeeded in instilling them in her pupils markedly.
Surviving besides her parents are two brothers: Vernon of Massena and Jerome of Wampsville, and one sister, Mrs. Ronald ( Ruth ) Trudeau of Malone.
Funeral arrangements were by the Donaldson Funeral Home,
Massena.
