JOPLIN, MO — Ruth L. (Rogers) Seiler, 94, passed away at her home in Joplin, on Aug. 6, 2010, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Some family members and her dedicated caregiver for the past four years were at her side.

She was a member of The First Presbyterian Church in Joplin.

Ruthie was born in Granby, Mo., May 20, 1916, to Eva Jane Link and John Beeler.

She had five sisters and four brothers.

In the late 50s, she started a career in Cosmetic Sales in New Orleans, La. She moved to Houston, Texas, in 1965, where she worked for Foley's Department Store selling Estee Lauder.

She moved back to Joplin in 1977 to work for Newman's Department Store. She retired in the 1983.

On June 3, 1985, she married Robert Seiler. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1998.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Rogers Niles; a grandson, Scotty Niles; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Niles; four sisters, Bertha, Opal, Millie and Bobbie; and four brothers, Jack, Ralph, Frank and Jimmy.

She is survived by two sons, Mike Rogers and wife Diane, Joplin, Mo., and Phil Rogers and wife Shelly, also of Joplin; one sister, Margie Shoemaker, of Galena, Kan.; three grandchildren, Becky Rogers, Shane Rogers and Ronald Niles; and four great-grandchildren, Nathan Pittman, Aaron Hines, Scott Niles and Merissa Niles.

Ruthie was very close to Julie Davis, her caregiver, for the past four years. The family is truly grateful for this bond they shared. The family would also like to thank Dr. Iftikhar Ali and his staff for the wonderful care and compassion they gave our mother. Also we would like to thank the staff from Regional Hospice.

Mrs. Seiler has been taken for cremation.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Saginaw Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Regional Hospice in care of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary.
