Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until February 9, 1946.

Husband of Frances G. Chalk who resided in Kansas.

Arthur served as a First Lieutenant & Pilot on B-25J #43-3935, 434th Bomber Squadron, 12th Bomber Group, Medium, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Trego County, Kansas prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on April 1, 1942 at Fort Riley, Kansas. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Retail manager and also as Single, without dependents.

B-25J #43-3935 took off, with a crew of 6 & two other B-25's, from Tejgaon Airport, India on a Combat Mission over a railroad bridge near Mosa, Burma (Myanmar).

After a successful mission and while returning to base the B-25's encountered severe overcast weather. B-25J #43-3935 was seen entering a large cloud by the other B-25's but was never seen nor heard from again. The entire crew was lost.

Arthur was declared "Missing In Action" on this mission during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
