William Elijah Miller, son of Lemuel G. and Sally Miller, was born near Mt. Herman, Mo., Oct 3, 1858, and departed this life Sept. 29, 1929, at the age of 70 years, 11 months and 23 days at the home of his son, Clyde Miller, near Olean, Mo.
He was married to Mary Lavona Long, Dec. 25, 1879, she passing away July 28, 1900, at the age of 41 years. To this union four children were born; two now living, Mrs. Tillie Ashley, of Kansas City, Ks., and Clyde of Eldon, MO. Two preceded him in death, Leslie died May 8, 1925, at the age of 41 years, Mrs. Ada Ashley passing away April 16, 1922, at the age of 30 years.
He was later united in marriage to Virginia Chloe Berry, March 1903. She passed away in August 1913. To this union two children were born, Mamie Ann, who died Feb. 8, 1923, at the age of 16 years, and Mrs. Alpha Dean Scott, now living near Enon. He is survived by three brothers, T.J. Miller of Eldon, Sim Miller of Eldon, and J.A. Miller of Jefferson City; one sister, Mrs. Maggie Buster of Eugene. Mo.
He united with the Christian Church at Spring Garden, Mo., in 1898, continuing to live a good Christian life. He was a good father, neighbor and citizen. He was a descendant of one of the oldest families of Miller County where he spent his entire life. HE was a man loved and respected by all who knew him.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A.L. Alexander, at Mt. Herman Church and burial was made in the Allen Cemetery.
