James J. Kelly, 57, Rt. 1, Fortville, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, Jan. 20, 1983, at his home.
Born June 20, 1925, in Anderson, he had resided the past 25 years in Hamilton County. He was employed with the U.S. Postal service in Indianapolis as a truck driver. He was also a Hamilton County farmer and raised and trained horses. He also worked at Delco Remy Division in Anderson. The World War II and Korean conflict Marine Corps veteran was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church here, Fortville American Legion and the VFW.
He is survived by a daughter, Anne F. Kelly, currently a senior at Ball State University in Muncie; his father, Thomas J. Kelly of McCordsville; three brothers, Brother Paul H. Kelly of Notre Dame and Jerome W. Kelly and John B. Kelly, both of McCordsville, a sister Margaret E. Kelly of Portage; and step-sister, Mrs. Donald (Carolyn Sue) Brooks of South Union, Ky.
Services were conducted Saturday, Jan. 22, 1983, at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Father Joseph S. Kos officiating. Burial was in Gravel Lawn Cemetery, where military rites were conducted by the American Legion and VFW.
Ronald Seals Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
