Philip's father was John ACKER (b. 1815 PA) and his mother was Ann Maria BUGH (b. 1819 OH). His siblings were: Elizabeth (b. 1843), William (b. 1845), Amanda (b. 1846, SWACKHAMMER), Martha E. (b. 1848), Charles E. (b. 1849), Jacob (b. 1851), George C. (b. 1854) and Emma T. (b. 1858). He passed away at the home of his nephew, John E. SWACKHAMMER in Olathe, Johnsons, Kansas following an 8 month illness from leakage of the heart. Phillip M. ACKER and Mary OLIVER were married on 11 January 1888 in Hocking County, Ohio and they immediately moved to Greely, Colorado where they lived for 17 years. Nearly 24 years ago they moved to Chiles, Kansas where Phillip had made their home until 5 months prior to his death. His wife preceded in death 12 years ago.

Besides his nephew John SWACKHAMMER of Olathe, he leaves to mourn a brother, George C. ACKER of Des Moines, Iowa, a sister Mrs. Amanda SWACKHAMMER of South Bloomingville, Ohio and friends and relatives.
Services were conducted at the Chiles Baptist Church. and the body was laid to rest in the Wagstaff Cemetery.
