Horace was the son of Charles and Ellen (Schoenly) Kauffman and husband of Esther Gehret. Ordained in 1916 he was serving at the Mennonite Brethren in Christ church (now Bible Fellowship) in Spring City when he died from the Spanish flu epidemic.
