Phyllis Irene (Dinsmoor) Ford, 83, passed away peacefully at her youngest son John Ford's home in Sandy, Utah, surrounded by family.

We would like to thank Sunbrook Hospice, including Kim her aide, Janice her nurse, and Dr. Kavita Willesen, for their exceptional care helping mom to pass on with dignity and grace without suffering.

Phyllis was born October 14, 1926 in Buckingham, Colorado, to Ralph B. Dinsmoor and Edith Louise "Eichinger" Dinsmoor. She was the oldest of three children. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She married Robert B. Ford on June 2, 1946, and spent 58 years together before his death in 2004.

Mom always said the greatest joy of her life was giving birth, being a mother (and grandmother) and spending time with her family. She gave birth to nine children; six boys and three girls. She and our dad had a great love for animals, and through the years had many dogs, cats, fish and other pets. She also loved collecting owl memorabilia.

Phyllis is survived by six sons: David (Shari) Ford, of Chattanooga, TN, Joel Ford, of Holts Summit, MO, Jerry (Sandy) Ford, of Sandy, UT, Darryl Ford of Columbia, MO, Leon (Maureen) Ford, of Salt Lake City, and John (Jennifer) Ford, of Sandy; one daughter, Lori (Ron) Jones, of Clarksburg, MO; brother, Larry (Sally) Dinsmoor, of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Lila Hughes, of Cheyenne, WY; 22 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Thank you Mom/Grandma for your unconditional love, simple faith, and the peace and comfort way we always felt from you. We miss you and can't wait to see you again!

She was preceded in death by two daughters: Linda Joy Ford and Denis (Perry) Starrs; husband, Robert B. Ford; and her parents, Ralph and Edith Dinsmoor.

Her children want to thank John, his kids Adam, Brandon, Chelsea and Mom's precious daughter-in-law, Jennifer Ford, for the way they took care of our mother every day for the last five years, but more specifically, the last six months, culminating in this last week of her life. Jen was instrumental in providing the care she needed, and John and the kids did whatever they could to make sure Mom/Grandma was okay. Grandma, we love you and miss you soooo much!

We also want to thank our friends and neighbors, and the Union 5th Ward Relief Society, for the many meals, well-wishes and prayers, and Mom's special friend Sue, for visiting Mom every day until the very end.

A special memorial service (no viewing) will be held on Wednesday, September 1, at the Forrest Bend Chapel in Sandy, UT at 7784 S. 2000 E. (Highland Dr.) at 6:00 p.m. All are welcome. There will be a viewing and funeral service in Cheyenne, Wyoming on Saturday, September 4, at the Buffalo Ridge Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7721 Badger Rd., Cheyenne, WY, 82009. The viewing will be at 9:00-10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.

Interment will be at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens for the family.

In lieu of flowers, anyone may make donations to help pay for recently accumulated medical bills.
