RALEIGH, N.C. -- Gary Lynn Miller died Saturday morning, Dec. 20, 2008, at his home in Raleigh, N.C., after a 17-month struggle with brain cancer.

Gary was born Nov. 14, 1948, in Millersburg, to Levi M. and Pauline (Bontrager) Miller, and was a West Holmes High School graduate. From 1966-69, he served in the U.S. Army, including two tours of duty in Vietnam as a communications expert.

He earned a bachelor's degree from Otterbein College, and married Jean Marie Vinecourt on Oct. 28, 1972. She survives. He was a telecommunications executive with Embarq for 38 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife are daughters, Tiffany (Darren) Taylor of London, England, and Audra (David) Kemp of Charlotte, N.C.; his parents; sisters, Shirley (James) Croft of Millersburg, Geneva (Frank) Donohue of Jeromesville, Roberta (James) Brown of Wooster and Christine (Lionel) Butler of Coshocton; brothers, David (Barbara) Miller of Massillon, Kenneth Miller and Eric (Joanne) Miller, both of Millersburg and Leonard (Felicia) Miller of Newton Falls; and 13 nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place and the family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, Dec. 28, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, where memorial services will be Monday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. Pastor David Hall will officiate.
