Mother of Terry W. Brock; Dr. James W. Brock; Nancy Emeline (Brock) Calaway; Perry G. Brock, Martha Jane (Brock) Rucker; and Laodicea Ann (Brock) Roberson
Dicy Brock came here to the Jasper/Newton County area in 1844. Her and James II moved into an old cabin and James contracted pneumonia and died soon after. She moved across the lane to her son's house (Dr. James Brock) and lived with him until her death. Her father had been a doctor in Tennesee and had schooled Dicy and her sisters in the arts of nursing, so she was a great help to her son James, in his practice as an M.D.
She and James I both had brothers that fought in the Revolutionary War.
