George E. Severson, age 75, of East Koy Road, Portageville, died at home on Wednesday, August 1, 2012. He was born July 27, 1937 in Cheektowaga, NY, the son of the late George E. and Helen Stackler Severson.
George was employed as a machinist for 32 years at LeRoy Industries prior to his retirement in 1994. He was an accomplished woodworker and enjoyed bird watching and working around his property.
George was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. His family remembers fondly his wonderful sense of humor.
Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Ada Martin Severson whom he married on March 16, 1957; his children, Rebecca (Gordon) Strain of Dalton, Daniel (Juli) Severson of Dansville, Deborah (Edward) Koerner of Pike, Gregory (Joanne) Severson of Warsaw, Vicky (Lawrence) Drozdowski of Castile; 12 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Ellen (Geoff) Alcock of Arizona, Donna (Francis) Motts of Warsaw, Jacky (Donald) Reniff of Dansville. He was the grandfather of the late Ashley Severson, great-grandfather of the late Ethan Abbott and brother of the late Edgar Severson and Ava Reitz.
There were no calling hours and services were private. Memorials can be made to the Pike Rescue Squad or Pike Fire Department. Arrangements completed by Harmon-Watson Funeral Home, Castile, NY.
