William A. Ward (1804-1884) was born at Horton twp., Kings co., (near Wolfville), Nova Scotia.

His parents were John Simeon Ward (1778-1859) and Sarah Hale (1786-c.1824). [John's father was William Allen Ward (1750-1844).

William A. Ward's grandfather, Wm A. Ward (1750-1844) and his grandmother Elizabeth Grant (1752-1841), came with their son Moses (1772-) as a part of the Yorkshire migration of 1774.]

This record concerns William Allen Ward (1804-1883) who married twice: (1827) his first wife Elizabeth Reid/Read, (1802-1854) a native of Horton, N.S.. She died 16 July 1854 in Ridgeway, Iowa, Wisconsin. His second wife Margaret McKenzie was also a native of P.E.I.

They and several families from P.E.I. settled in the Territory of Michigan (now called Iowa County, Wisconsin). William and Elizabeth settled at Ridgeway, where he engaged in farming.

William A Ward married firstly Elizabeth Reid. They had the following children:

-- John Wallace Ward (1835-1900)

-- James Edward Ward 1836-1910)who married Anna Marie Addison.

-- Nancy Victoria Ward (1838- ) married William Allen McKenzie

-- Caroline 'Carrie' A.(1845-) who married Myron Albert Bishop.

Elizabeth Reid died in 1854. William married Margaret McKenzie

William A. Ward married secondly, Margaret A. McKenzie had the following children:

-- Henrietta "Etta" Elizabeth, (1858-1931), wife of Robert Clarke

-- William Allen (1861-1953) who married Helen Belfield Fish.

-- Zella Belle (1864-1921)who never married.
