She was born July 17,1912 in Achilles, Kan., to Roscoe and Susan (Hackney) Ginther. She grew up in Oberlin, Kan., and graduated from high school in 1928.
She married Verl Magner in Oct. of 1929 in Oberlin, Kansas. They moved to Thief River Falls, MN in 1937 where together they farmed near Newfolden, MN.
In 1955, Lucille married Andrew Nesland in Thief River Falls, MN. They moved to Chicago in 1959 where together they managed apartment buildings. They retired in 1974 and returned to Thief River Falls. Lucille was a volunteer at the nursing home and with the American Cancer Society. After Andrew's death in 2000, Lucille moved to Cloquet, MN.
She enjoyed making quilts, many of which were made for the Red Cross. She also loved her collection of more than 200 teddy bears.
Lucille was preceded in death by her first husband, Verl Magner; her second husband, Andrew Nesland; daughter, Betty Lou Christiansen; infant sons, Eugene and John Magner; sisters, Helen, Lila, Ruth and Berla; and brother, Melvin.
She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis Louze of Cloquet and JoAnn (John) Abruscato of Chicago; step-son, David (Donna) Nesland of Peotone, Ill.; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, three step grandchildren and one step great grandson.
VISITATION: 2 until the 3 p.m. funeral service on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004 in Northland Funeral Home, 801 14th St. in Cloquet, MN. A time of fellowship will follow in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. Burial will be in the spring in St. Olaf Cemetery in Grygla, Minn.
