Iris was one of eleven surviving children of the 13 children born to William and Anne Tompkins.
It was the mid 1930's the Great Depression, A Bob Adams and some of his buddies, from Geauga County, Ohio- came to Barberton, Summit County, Ohio- to look for work- they knew someone in the area- so were sticking around "town".
Iris and few of her girlfriends had seen the new guys in the area, and jokingly claimed which one they wanted. Iris said she wanted the ornery looking one. At the time, they commonly had dances on the "outskirts" of town. Their first date was at one of these dances.
She married Robert M Adams, of Geauga County.in
1936. Having 3 children.
Iris loved to go to Garage Sales and Flea Markets.
She loved to collect things- YET always maintained a clean house, displaying her collections.

**tombstone has Iris E - her and family always assumed middle name was Eileen - finding her birth certificate proved it Ailene** - her granddaughter
