Lifelong Newberry resident, Anne L. Swanson, 76, died Wednesday morning June 30, 2010 at her residence surrounded by her loving family and the care of North Woods Hospice.

Born February 16, 1934 in Newberry, daughter of the late Maurice Beaudin and Dorothea (Green) Beaudin, Anne Beaudin was a 1952 graduate of Newberry High School and attended Sienna Heights in Adrian. In addition to being a homemaker, Anne was employed as a clerk at the former Squire-Carmody Store for 13 years.

Anne's life surrounded her active devotion at St. Gregory's Catholic Church where she was a choir member for over 50 years, a former sacristan president of the Altar Society for 10 years and a collection plate counter for over 20 years. Anne was an avid knitter and seamstress, especially known for her toddler sweaters and sewing for family and friends. She also loved to raise ivy plants which she enjoyed giving to her friends.

In addition to her parents, Anne Swanson was preceded in death by son-in-law Rick Simi, in-laws Margaret and Gus Swanson, Mary Jo and Elmer Hetrick, Margaret and Clint Hedberg, and her brother-in-law Roy Swanson.

Survivors included her loving husband Gustaf "Gus" of Newberry, whom she married October 10, 1953 in Newberry; children Jean Simi, Andy (Sarah) Swanson and Ken (Jennifer) Swanson, all of Newberry, and Kathy Brown of Harbor Springs; grandchildren Charley (Nikki) Simi of St. Johns and Mike Simi of Seattle, WA, Steven Swanson of Torrington, WY, Philip Swanson of Escanaba, Sara (Rick) Shrouds of Columbia, SC, Abby Derusha and MacKenzie Brown both of Harbor Springs, Shannon Swanson of Escanaba and Gregg Swanson of Newberry; great-grandchildren Katelyn and Alex Shrouds both of Columbia, SC and Ava and Alivia Simi of St. Johns; siblings Jim (Jan) Beaudin of Newberry and Bill (Caroline) Beaudin of Green Bay, WI.
