Carolyn Wampler

Carolyn A. Watson Wampler, 63, of Athens, went home with Jesus on Thursday evening, Dec. 23, 2010, at her home following complications from a stroke. A native and lifelong resident of Athens, she was the daughter of the late Grover E. and Irene Ramsey Watson and was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Amber Chrisman. She was retired from Shaw Industries in Decatur after 31 years of service and was a faithful member of Mount Verd Baptist Church.

She was the kindest and most giving person in the world and will truly be missed. She is now in the presence of her Lord, whom she loved dearly.

Survivors include her loving husband of 23 years, James "Eddy" Wampler of Athens; two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy H. and Jason Ward of Decatur and Robin and Jon Roe of Cleveland; one son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Tracie Howard of Decatur; two step-sons and one daughter-in-law, David and Tracie Wampler, of Crossville, and Jeff Wampler of Dayton; four grandchildren, Jeff France, Jonathan Gibson, Krystal Howard and Nick Howard; four step-grandchildren, Jamie Wampler, Jennifer Wampler, Rachael Wampler and Randy Wampler; one great-grandson, Jace Chrisman; and her longtime best friend, Pauletta Kennedy of Decatur.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Monday at Ziegler Funeral Home with Pastor Donnie Dalton officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Gibson, Jason Ward, Mark Kennedy, Dustin Kennedy, Justin Kennedy and Nathan Wright.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Ziegler Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.
