E.J. was b. in Baltimore, MD, probably, though some sources state Pennsylvania, and name is sometimes spelled "Bierbower." He married Matilda Louise MacElvey on 07 Mar 1839. He lived in Marion, Marion Co., OH in 1860, Indianapolis, Marion Co., IN in 1880, and d. in Indianapolis. He was a buggy finisher in 1860, a highly skilled trade that did the fine details and upholstery on a buggy, however is listed as a laborer in 1880 census at age 65. He and his wife Matilda had 7 children: Casper (1840-1841), Samuel T. (1842-1902, possibly named after his brother, Find A Grave Memorial# 88047453), Stephen (1845-1905), James (1847-), Edgar Peter (1849-1916), Emma (1852-), and John Eleazer (1858-1930). John Eleazer was the father of Elsie Janis who was a very famous vaudeville performer from a young age, writer, actor, etc. - see FAG Famous Person Memorials # 10334 and 33617289.
