He lived in Marion, Marion Co., OH in 1860, Indianapolis, Marion Co., IN in 1880, and d. in Indianapolis. He was a buggy finisher in 1860, a highly skilled trade that did the fine details and upholstery on a buggy, however is listed as a laborer in 1880 census at age 65. He and his wife Matilda had 7 children: Casper (1840-1841), Samuel T. (1842-1902, possibly named after his brother, Find A Grave Memorial# 88047453), Stephen (1845-1905), James (1847-), Edgar Peter (1849-1916), Emma (1852-), and John Eleazer (1858-1930). John Eleazer was the father of Elsie Janis who was a very famous vaudeville performer from a young age, writer, actor, etc. - see FAG Famous Person Memorials # 10334 and 33617289.
