Graduated Rio Americano High School and got her RDA credentials at Sacramento City College. She worked in the dental field.
Shirley fought a short but brave battle with a quick moving cancer that took her from us way too soon.
She passed away at Marshall Hospital with her family keeping vigil to the end. When her final moments came she and her husband Bruce were the only ones in the room, as it should have been. Their love was so strong they really didn't need anything else but time, which was not on their side. They had been childhood sweethearts, gone their seperate ways for many, many years and then reunited but a decade or so before Shirley's untimely passing. They made the most of every minute they had.
Shirley never had any children of her own but she was mother to Bruce's two sons Matt and James. At her funeral James performed a song for his step mom that he wrote, there was not a dry eye in the house.
One of the songs that was played at the end of the memorial service was Remember When by Alan Jackson, so when you hear that song, think fondly of Shirley and know, we will meet again.
