Reenlisted on June 15, 1861 for Three Year's Service; wounded and captured at the Battle of Cloyd's Mountain, Virginia on May 9, 1864; and mustered out on October 26, 1864

Jamestown Man Dead.


William Allen Dingess, 60, one of the best-known residents of Jamestown, died at 8:30 Friday morning after an illness extending over seven years. Mr. Dingess was a Civil War veteran, and was severely wounded in the battle of Cloyd Mountain. He is survived by his widow. The funeral services were held at the home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
