Frances was born in Valparaiso, Indiana to Louise (nee, Sprencel) and Frank R. Theroux. Shortly after her birth the family moved to East Lansing, Michigan, where her father became a professor at Michigan State. Frances -- along with all six of her brothers -- graduated from MSU, making them the largest single group of siblings ever to all graduate from Michigan State. She met her future husband, legendary football coach Frank Kush, at MSU and they were married in August 1953. The couple then moved to Tempe, Arizona, where Frances lived the rest of her life. She was survived by her husband; her sons Daniel, David and Damian; and her brothers Frank, Robert, Paul, Charles and James. (Preceding her in death was her eldest brother, Louis.)
