Loren Paul Ireton, jr. was born in Kansas City, MO in 1936, son of Loren Paul Ireton, a jazz musician, and Irwin Haily Bird, a restaurateur. He was always known by his middle name, or to certain family members when he was younger, "Pooky".

Paul married twice, to Doris Reynolds and then to Helen Conklin. He and Doris had three children together, Valarie, Loren Paul III (Buddy), and Linda Bethene. They divorced in 1962. Valarie was raised within her mother's family, and her surname became Reynolds; Buddy and Linda were adopted, and their names became Christopher (Kit) Thomas and Margaret Thomas, respectively. He married Helen in 1972, and adopted her two daughters, Tina and Pamela, as his own. He died suddenly of a cerebral hemorrhage in 1986.

  Services for Loren Paul Ireton, 51, Shawnee, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Maple Hill Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

  Mr. Ireton died on Thursday, Feb. 11, 1988 at the home. He was born in Kansas and lived in this area most of his life. Mr. Ireton had been a stocker for the Price Chopper Store in Shawnee. He was an Army veteran.
  Surviving are his wife, Helen A. Ireton, of the home; two daughters, Pam Garrett, Kansas City, Kan., and Tina Ireton, of the home; his stepparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rock, KCK; two brothers, Mark Ireton, KCK, and Phillip Ireton, Paola; two half-brothers, Mike Rock, KCK and Patrick Rock, Olathe; a sister, Nancy Rock, Honolulu, and a granddaughter, Amber Ireton.
