Mr. Josiah Shriner died at his home on North Second street in this place on Friday night of last week, aged about 65 years. He had been confined to his home for some six weeks suffering from a complication of diseases. He was a painter by trade and followed his occupation in Lewisburg and vicinity for many years. He kept books at the coal office of Newman & Wagner for two years or so past. He was an industrious citizen, modest and retiring and looked after his own affairs, though he was a good neighbor and esteemed by those who learned to know him. Mr. Shriner was a member of the 51st Reg. Pa. Vols., and when his body was conveyed to the cemetery the coffin was covered with the flag he had risked his life to protect. The surviving members of the family are his wife, four daughters: Mrs. Harry L. Bond, Mrs. Frank Derr, Misses Sallie and Katharine, all of Lewisburg, and one son, Hower Shriner, of Cowan.
The funeral was held on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. A. B. Collins. The pall-bearers were Messrs. D. C. Brewer, James Forrest, William Shields, Lewis Newman, Daniel Meyer and J. P. Brooke.
