JEMISON, JOHN SNOW, III "JAY" Age 61, passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 with his daughter and wife at his side. A native of Alabama, Jay was born June 25, 1949 in Birmingham to John Snow Jemison, Jr. and Marie Stokes Jemison. He is preceded in death by his parents. Jay attended the Choate School in Connecticut and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Jay is survived by his wife, Kim Morgan Jemison; daughter Katherine Madden Jemison, and three grandchildren, John Alexander Jemison, Peyton Ellis Jemison Magno and Ellery Madden Jemison, sisters, Dorothy Jemison Day (Corbin), and Margaret Lloyd Jemison, and brother Richard Hannon Jemison During his career, Jay was involved in the cable TV industry, Stringfellow Lumber Company LLC and was the founder of The Graphic Zone, Inc. Jay was a lover of movies and the arts and was actively involved with the Alys Stephens Performing Arts Center and The Red Mountain Theatre Company. Jay enjoyed traveling the world with his wife and had an interest in people and music from all backgrounds and cultures. A graveside service will be held at Elmwood Cemetery on Saturday, February 5, at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to The Red Mountain Theatre Company, P. O. Box 278, Birmingham, AL 35201. Services are under the direction of Ridout's Valley Chapel (879-3401) Homewood, AL.
