Passed away Tuesday at the home of his daughter Mrs. John Schlicht, 3026 North Vassar Road, Vassar, following a lengthy illness. Age 96 years. He was born May 29, 1863, in Fremont Township. He married Maggie Craig in 1889, in Fremont Township. She passed away in 1956. The deceased was a member of the Vassar Methodist Church. Prior to his retirement he had been employed by the Eaton Manufacturing Co. in Vassar. Surviving, besides Mrs. Schlicht, are three other daughters and one son, Mrs. Henry Borgerding, Birmingham; Mrs. Guy Gerow, Traverse City; Mrs. Carl Baker, Flint; Scott Abernethy, Bay City; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; also one sister, Mrs. Ida Harrington , Mayville; several nieces and cousins. Funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Friday at the Atkins Funeral Home, Vassar. Rev. Dean Parker will officiate, with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. Wednesday.
